Julie’s Memorial Haven Foundation Successfully Completes Three-Day Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program in Accra

September 16 @ 11:00 am - September 18 @ 5:00 pm

16th–18th September 2026 | Accra, Ghana

Julie’s Memorial Haven Foundation (JMH Foundation), in partnership with Abayedei Cares, successfully organized a three-day Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program from 16th to 18th September 2026, reaching and empowering 300 girls across three schools in Accra, Ghana.

The outreach was conducted at:

* Osu Presbyterian Preparatory School – 16th September 2026
* Tiny Flowers Academy, Osu – 17th September 2026
* South La Estate Junior High School, Osu – 18th September 2026

The program was designed to educate young girls on menstrual health and hygiene, promote confidence and dignity, and provide practical support to help them manage menstruation safely and effectively.

Over the course of the three days, the girls participated in engaging and interactive sessions covering:

* Understanding menstruation and the menstrual cycle
* Proper menstrual hygiene practices
* Personal care and self-care during menstruation
* Building confidence and self-esteem
* Breaking myths and stigma surrounding menstruation
* The importance of education and staying in school during menstruation

To ensure the girls received accurate and professional guidance, the Foundation brought together a team of dedicated doctors, nurses, entrepreneurs, brand ambassadors, and community advocates, who shared their knowledge, experiences, and encouragement. The girls were given the opportunity to ask questions freely, participate in discussions, and gain a better understanding of how to care for themselves during their menstrual periods.

As part of the initiative, every participant received a specially prepared Menstrual Hygiene Care Package, which included:

* A tote bag
* Sanitary pads
* Body wash
* Body spray
* Shaving stick
* A personalized encouragement and thank-you message

In addition, our partners, Abayedei Cares, generously provided snack packs for all participating girls, helping to make the experience enjoyable, memorable, and impactful.

The program was met with great enthusiasm from students, teachers, and school administrators. Beyond the distribution of hygiene products, the initiative created a safe space for open conversations about menstruation, empowering the girls with knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to care for themselves with dignity.

The smiles, participation, and positive feedback received throughout the three schools reaffirmed the importance of continuing conversations around menstrual health and ensuring that no girl feels ashamed, uninformed, or disadvantaged because of her period.

This outreach marks a significant milestone for Julie’s Memorial Haven Foundation as we continue our mission of supporting children, empowering women and girls, and transforming lives through education, advocacy, faith, and community engagement.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our volunteers, facilitators, healthcare professionals, school authorities, partners, supporters, and especially Abayedei Cares for their invaluable contribution toward the success of this initiative.

Together, we are creating a future where every girl has the knowledge, confidence, and support she needs to thrive.
